Barbados Comes to Atlanta 2023
The ‘Barbados Comes To Atlanta,’ 2023 Bridgetown Market/Barbados Day was one of camaraderie, fun, business and entertainment.
Over 1,000 persons turned up at the Clayton County International Park in Georgia, Atlanta, on Sunday, May 28, dressed in patriotic colours from head-to-toe to celebrate all things Bajan.
Family and friends who attended sampled such Bajan delicacies as Legendary fishcakes, Chefette rotis, sweetbread, pudding and souse, and quenched their thirst with Tiger Malt, Plus and Banks Beer.
Those present seized the opportunity to learn more about Barbados and things to do on the island, especially the upcoming events such as Crop Over and the Barbados Food and Rum festival, from the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.’s Product Manager (ag), Madge Dalrymple and Senior Business Development Officer, Tenisha Holder.
In addition, attendees learned how they could trace their family heritage at the Genealogy booth from Chief Archivist, Ingrid Thompson.
They also took the time to visit local business booths such as Superb Blend; Delish Products and Try It, selling seasonings, mauby, ginger beer and sorrel drink syrups, hot sauces and pepper jellies. Furthermore, ladies got the chance to purchase local handmade jewelry and handbags.
In addition, businesses like DNA Flavour, owned by Barbadian Akilah Love out of Atlanta and Chef Geez, owned by Barbadian Chef Hartley Griffith from Tampa Bay, Florida, were also on hand to display their products.
The evening concluded with entertainment by Terry ‘Mexican’ Arthur, Stedson ‘RBP’ Wiltshire, Anderson ‘Blood’ Armstrong and Trinity Clarke. (SFC/BGIS)
